Eydís Evensen (born February 5, 1994) is an Icelandic pianist, composer, vocalist, and songwriter whose music blends post-classical, ambient, minimalist, and cinematic influences. Raised in the small northern town of Blönduós, Iceland, she developed a close connection to the country's dramatic landscapes, changing weather, and long winters—elements that remain central inspirations for her compositions.
She began piano lessons at the age of six and composed her first original piece at seven, inspired by a winter storm. As a teenager she was also an accomplished volleyball player, but a serious knee injury redirected her focus entirely toward music. She studied classical piano and composition in Reykjavík before continuing her education in London.
Before becoming a full-time musician, Evensen worked internationally as a fashion model, living for several years in London and New York City. During the COVID-19 pandemic she returned to Iceland, where she devoted herself fully to composing and recording. Her emotionally rich piano works quickly attracted the attention of Sony Masterworks' XXIM Records, leading to her international debut.
Her music combines solo piano with strings, subtle electronics, and atmospheric textures. Influences include Frédéric Chopin, Claude Debussy, Philip Glass, Ólafur Arnalds, Sigur Rós, and Björk. She has performed at venues and festivals including the Royal Albert Hall, SXSW, the Nobel Prize Museum, ESNS Festival, and has twice appeared on KEXP, where her performances have reached millions of viewers.
