Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong (born December 25, 1971, in London) is an English singer-songwriter known for her soft, emotive vocals and a blend of pop, electronic, and folk influences.
She rose to global fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s with a sound that felt both intimate and cinematic.
Her breakthrough came with her debut album No Angel (1999), but it exploded worldwide after the track “Thank You” was sampled by Eminem in his hit Stan. That moment basically launched her into massive international visibility.
Dido’s music often explores themes of love, loss, solitude, and resilience, delivered with a calm, understated style that contrasts with more dramatic pop voices. She’s also closely linked to electronic music through collaborations with her brother, Rollo Armstrong, a founding member of Faithless.
