French 79

French 79 is the solo project of Simon Henner, a French producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist from Marseille. He launched the project in 2014, after playing in bands like Nasser and collaborating with artists such as Kid Francescoli. 

Henner’s background is surprisingly classical. He studied percussion and piano at a conservatory before drifting through rock, hip-hop, and electro scenes. That mix shows up in his music: polished synth-driven tracks with cinematic, emotional weight. 

His sound sits somewhere between French Touch, synthwave, and indie-electronic—often compared to artists like Daft Punk or Kraftwerk, but with a more introspective, melodic edge. 

He broke through with his debut album Olympic (2016), and since then has become a key figure in modern French electronic music, known for immersive live shows and strong visual identity.
