Marshmello (real name Christopher Comstock, born 1992, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American electronic music producer and DJ known for his signature marshmallow-shaped helmet, upbeat sound, and crossover success blending EDM, pop, trap, and future bass. He’s one of the most commercially successful electronic artists of the 21st century, bridging mainstream pop appeal with festival-ready production.
Marshmello emerged in 2015 as a mysterious figure on SoundCloud, releasing remixes of tracks by artists like Jack Ü and Zedd. His identity was initially unknown (later confirmed to be Chris Comstock, also known as Dotcom).
His early original singles, including “Alone” (2016), became viral hits—its emotional melody and uplifting tone helped define his early sound. “Alone” reached the Billboard Hot 100 and became a defining anthem of the future bass era, emphasizing emotional, melodic EDM.
Marshmello’s 2017–2019 period saw him move from underground producer to mainstream superstar. Collaborations with pop artists brought him global recognition:
