Nikolina (real name Ronja) is a German DJ based in Berlin, known for a fusion of hard techno with Schranz and groove elements. She first encountered the techno scene at 14 in Berlin, began by dabbling in psytrance and house, and eventually moved into her current techno/Schranz style.
Her DJ name “Nikolina” is a tribute to her mother (“Nicole”), She adopted a variation of that name in honour of her. She has been active in Berlin’s underground scene, and has taken part in tours (e.g., in Colombia and North America) as part of her growth
She describes her style as “Schroove”, a portmanteau of Schranz + groove, indicating a hard driving rhythm (Schranz: fast, heavy techno) blended with groove elements. The sound focuses on relentless energy, a hypnotic kick-drum, and layered small details grooves to hold listeners in a trance-like state. Her sets and productions focus less on big mainstream EDM/pop house and more on underground, club-/rave-oriented techno.
Her first gig is cited as July 2021 in Berlin, around the time she bought her first DJ equipment. She achieved her “first sold-out month with 12 gigs” in April 2023, signifying a breakout moment. She has done tours, including in Colombia (Pasto, Bogotá, Medellín, Manizales) and North America (Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto).
