Dominique Fils-Aimé (pronounced Feez-ah-MAY) is a Montréal-based vocalist, composer, and conceptual artist whose work blends jazz, soul, blues, and avant-garde vocal textures into a deeply expressive and socially resonant musical language. She is known for her pure, velvety tone, minimalist yet powerful arrangements, and emotionally charged performances that center the human voice as both instrument and storyteller.

Identity, resilience, and liberation, expressed through her multi-album conceptual arcs, the body and breath as musical tools, using layered vocals, hand percussion, and sparse instrumentation, and social justice and collective healing, especially in relation to the African diaspora. Her music frequently feels intimate and ritualistic, an invitation inward rather than a display of vocal virtuosity, though she has plenty of that as well.

She was awarded the Juno Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year (2019), was on the Polaris Music Prize Shortlist (multiple nominations), received ADISQ Awards including Best Jazz Album, and is widely praised by NPR, CBC, Radio-Canada, and international festivals.
