Gino Vannelli (born June 16, 1952, Montreal, Quebec) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer best known for blending jazz-fusion sophistication with pop, rock, and soul. Across five decades, he’s built a reputation as a musician’s musician, a fearless arranger with a soaring tenor voice and a taste for ambitious compositions.
Raised in a musical Italian-Canadian family, Vannelli studied classical piano and drums before turning to songwriting. After moving to Los Angeles in the early 1970s, he signed with A&M Records, where his early albums leaned into jazz-rock fusion.
