Philip Sayce (born June 3, 1976, in Aberystwyth, Wales) is a Welsh-born Canadian blues-rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter known for his fiery Stratocaster tone, soulful vocals, and improvisational playing style. He grew up in Toronto, Canada, where he was exposed early to blues, rock, and soul music.
As a teenager he became heavily influenced by guitar legends such as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Albert King, influences that shaped his expressive phrasing and high-energy performances.
Sayce first gained international attention in the late 1990s when he joined the band of Jeff Healey. Touring and recording with Healey gave him major exposure and established him as a rising guitarist on the blues-rock circuit.
In the early 2000s Sayce also played with Melissa Etheridge, serving as her lead guitarist during major tours and appearing on live recordings. After this period he focused on his solo career, building a strong following through albums and relentless touring.
Sayce’s music blends blues, psychedelic rock, and soul, often compared to classic power-trio blues rock. His recordings highlight both raw guitar work and melodic songwriting.
