Roch Voisine (born March 26, 1963, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada) is a bilingual Canadian singer-songwriter, actor, and television host.
Originally aiming for a career in hockey, he shifted to music in the mid-1980s. His big break came in 1986 when he performed before 50,000 people in Montréal on Canada Day.
His 1989 debut album Hélène became a massive international success, selling around 3 million copies and topping charts across Europe. The title track “Hélène” dominated French charts and launched his global career.
He quickly became a pop phenomenon (“Rochmania”), especially in France and Quebec.
